Trying so hard to prove that the novel COVID-19 is not as deadly as other ailments we’ve lived all our lives with is not a justification to see the rising death tolls as one which calls not for panic whatsoever. It’s not a justification.

Let’s remember, scientist are still studying the behavior of this virus to find an effective cure. There continues to be a void which has to be filled in making us fully understand how the COVID-19 behaves so we can fully guard ourselves against the pandemic. With the little knowledge we have on the virus, we can only strictly follow the safety precautionary measures.

Don’t be wallowed in deceit to think because there are more deadly diseases out there, we shouldn’t panic. The possibility of spread of the virus to your family (if you’ve caught it) is so high and the possibility of this family further spreading this to others outside the home even makes it a more worrying of a situation. The ease of spread is what makes this dangerous.

Considering the devastating effects well-placed countries like China, Italy and the US have faced with regards to the novel virus, we can’t risk testing our comparably weaker health systems in these trying moments. If constantly keeping our Ghanaian people abreast with the rising infection and or death tolls in other countries will make them more proactive in securing themselves, why not.

This isn’t an issue of causing panic it is an issue of making our people to well understand the issue at hand. However, it’s unfortunate several people have taken advantage to spread false news regarding the situation – mostly on social media platforms. These are critical times and we should be verifying all news items we come across before sharing to others.

But more importantly, education on protective measures we should be conscious about must continuously be intensified as we together seek the Almighty’s intervention during these trying times. Friends, kindly stay safe and try as much as possible to follow all prevention and control measures given.

God, rescue your people and make our homelands great and strong.

Peace
